"Love and the Sea" Concert on 10 July 2019
You’re invited to celebrate the 150th birthday year of FM Alexander at a concert on 10 July 2019 organised by Friends of the Alexander Technique. The theme is ‘Love and the Sea’ and the venue is the wonderful Leighton House Museum near Holland Park in London, home of the painter Frederic Leighton.
Tickets are £15 or £8 for concessions (under 15 or over 60). You’ll get an interval drink as part of the ticket price, as well as a chance to look round the house before the start of the concert. Doors open at 6.30pm (for a 7.30pm concert start) so you’ll have time to stroll around before the music starts.
FM Alexander was born in 1869, so 2019 marks 150 years since his birth. Many musicians and music schools use the Alexander Technique to help with voice, breathing, performance and presence on stage. The music on the night will be songs and arias by composers such as Elgar, Handel, Bizet, Schubert, Strauss and Debussy.
Proceeds from the evening will go to Friends of the Alexander Technique. It’s a charity for people who use the Alexander Technique in any aspect of their lives. Its aim is to encourage a sense of community among people at all levels of experience in the Alexander Technique - with a view to providing support for those who are learning, living and teaching these ideas, and to inspire others to become interested in them.
